KEOTA – Wilfred J. “Bill” Cady, 91, of Keota, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 19, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery with military rites by Keota VFW Post 4716. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cady was born Aug. 4, 1925, in Keota, the son of George and Veronica “Frona” (Bohr) Cady. He married Pauline Sheetz on Nov. 13, 1955, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota.

He graduated from Keota High School. He was drafted into the Army and served during World War II. A lifelong Keota resident, he worked for the City of Keota for over 20 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and Keota VFW Post 4716, and enjoyed doing yard work, tinkering, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, and playing cards and games with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline, of Keota; one daughter, Karen Teitsworth and husband Richard of Washington; one son, Patrick Cady and wife Karmen of Wellman; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Donald, Duane, Robert, and Marion; and two sisters, Alma Riordan, and Donna Washburn.
