December 7, 1927 - August 25, 2017

William W. "Bill" Wagamon, age 89, of Washington, Iowa, died on Friday, August 25, 2017 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held at a later date. Interment will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Paws & More Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be sent for Bill's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.

Bill was born December 7, 1927 in Wellman, Iowa, the son of William and Mabelle Ida (Herr) Wagamon. After graduating high school, he attended Iowa Wesleyan College. Bill was united in marriage to Mary Richards on September 7, 1948 in Washington, Iowa.

Bill farmed west of Wellman and was the manager at Wellman Telephone for over 30 years. He served honorably in the 82nd Airborne Division. Bill was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Shrine Lodge and the TKE Fraternity. He was a past president of the Wellman Rotary Club and past president of the Rural Iowa Independent Telephone Association. He loved his livestock and doing crossword puzzles. Bill was an avid writer and enjoyed spending time with his grandson during the summer.

He is survived by his wife, Mary R. Wagamon of Washington, Iowa; daughter, Mary Virginia Carlson and husband Stephen of Crossville, Tenn.; and grandson, Brent William Carlson and wife Lauren of Batavia, Ill.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Robins; and brother, Arvid H. Wagamon
