Work session being held to review RFPs

A work session is being held with E911 Services, Communications and the Washington County Board of Supervisors Thursday to review the Requests For Proposals for communications equipment.

The work session is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., at the Washington County Sheriff’s office.

Washington County auditor Dan Widmer said the county received two RFPs for the project — one from RACOM and one from Motorola.

The RFPs were due March 22, as reported in The Journal. The county has budgeted up to $10.5 million for the cost of the new equipment.

Both the proposals turned in were below that amount, Widmer said.

“We were all pleasantly surprised,” he added.

The next step is to review the two RFPs to see what is included in them and what the best option for the county will be.

Mike Day, a consultant from Elert & Associates, who has worked with the county on the communications equipment project, will be on a conference call during the work session.
