Aug 04, 2014

A writing workshop sponsored by the Readers & Writers Department of Fortnightly Club of Washington will be held at the Washington Public Library on Aug. 20, 21, and 22. The fee to attend is $100, and registrations are limited.
Kate Gleeson will direct the writing instruction. She is a 1992 graduate of the University of Iowa’s Nonfiction Writing Program. She has published two books with a survivor of Stalin’s labor camps,  “Man Is Wolf to Man: Surviving the Gulag” (1988), and “Surviving Freedom: After the Gulag” (2003).
For the past 20 years, Gleeson has worked as a freelance writer and editor. She has taught for six years at the University of Iowa’s Summer Writing Festival.
Reservations may be made by contacting Patty Roe at 319-653-6646, or Christal Arthur at 319-653-4829.
The purpose of the workshop is to give writers in southeastern Iowa an opportunity to meet other writers and develop their current writing projects.
